Why do we need new Managed Paths?
The path helping to create meaning and readable SharePoint site collections, other than the default "sites/contoso" path.
There are two kinds of managed path
1. Explicit - Allows you create ONE site collection only without the need of any name like sites.
Example: http://intranet.contoso.com/contoso
2. Implicit- Allows you to create large number of site collections with a custom name instead of "sites"
Example: http://intranet.contoso.com/admin/windows
http://intranet.contoso.com/admin/sharepoint
